went thirdwheeling with eric and his new girlfriend, ana.
today, this homeless woman came up to me and asked if i could spare her some change. usually, i wouldn't... if you ever came down here (downtown, honolulu)... you know why. but i thought, why be an asshole when i'm fully capable of helping out? so i dug into my pockets and gave her everything i had on me... which weren't much. like seven or eight bucks... i figured she could at least get some lunch out of it or something. she thanked me, said "god bless" and walked away.
a moment later, jon tells me that that same lady comes down to his workplace all the time... to buy booze.
ALL THE TIME.
the world has screwed me over... once again.

went down to varsity to catch the last show of mulholland drive. it's got to be one of the weirdest films i've ever seen. maybe it's because i'm stupid but... i didn't get it. well, if you've seen it, maybe you can enlighten me on what the fuck was going on. if you didn't, go see it. you'll know what i mean.

hey, you never know, you may potentially
be the next sid vicious, or the next g.g. allin, or the next... fred durst.
keep on rollin, baby. \m/_

woke up with a nasty sunburn. see, usually when people stay out in the sun,
they get darker. me, i just get really red. and then a few days later, i'm
back to my pale self again.

i was talking with a girl from my economics class today:
gfmec: hey.
me: hi.
*blahblahblah... fastfoward.*
girl: are you liking this class?
me: no, no... i hate it.
girl: (laughs)
me: i just have to take this for credit...
girl: so what's your major?
me: computer science. you?
girl: accounting. i need the credit, too.
me: oh.
girl: i like instructor chen much better than wen, though—he's more
organized.
me: oh.
(awkward silence)
girl: (walks away)
me: :(
and the thing is that i've been wanting to talk to this girl ever since
the start of this semester. :P

i know i say this all the time... i hate writing concert reviews. so i'll try to keep this short.
jon and i went down to kualoa ranch at about 10:30 am
(normally at that time, my ass would be in church) for the cypress hill's
smokeout tour. i heard that about 4,000 people showed up, but it looked
like a whole lot more were there. suicidal tendencies were off the
lineup, but in a way it was a good thing, because the other bands were allowed
to play longer sets. 97.5 kpoi threw some of their t-shirts out into
the crowd—the crowd threw it back at them.
knumbskulls opened up the show
next up was guttermouth. i don't like the band, so i didn't really care for it. they
finished off their set with "perfect world," which is the ONLY
guttermouth song i like, so that was cool, i guess. in the middle of their
set, a girl came up to me and asked if i was mark kim. after a moment of confusion, i find out that she was rebecca—someone whom
i knew through the internet. what was SORT OF weird was that she knew all
sorts of stuff about me, but we've never even met each other before (in fact,
she's the first person from the internet that i've actually got to meet
in person). anyway, it was
really nice meeting her. :)
next up was nofx. they opened their show with "fuck the kids,"
and went right into "linolium." during "perfect government,"
i fell on my ass and ended up pulling a muscle on my left leg. just my luck,
the next song they played was "the brews"—my favorite nofx
song. i stayed in the pit anyway... but as soon as the song was over,
i got my ass out of the crowd and watched the rest of the set from a distance.
songs i missed: "the cause," "together on the sand,"
"stickin in my eye," "bob," "kill all the white
man," "don't call me white," "louise," "it's
my job to keep punk rock elite," etc... i was pissed at the tought that i
couldn't go up to see pennywise, which was the main reason for me
going in the first place.
fortunately, after 30 minutes of letting my legs rest a little, i was able to get into the crowd again.
jim made the crowd shoutout "FUCK OSAMA!" three times and
they started off their set with "wouldn't it be nice?" some other
songs during the set: "can't take it anymore," "stand by
me," "can't believe it," "homesick," "society,"
"peaceful day," "time marches on." jim even called out
fat mike to do a ramones cover together: "blitzkrieg bop," which was dedicated
to late joey ramone. the crowed
demanded "fuck authority," but jim was reluctant to sing it...
especially with what happened with 9-11 and all the police officers and
firefighters who lost their lives. he eventually gave in... and everyone in the crowd had their middle fingers
in the air throughout the whole song! :) the set finished off with "bro hymn."
after pennywise's set, my leg was starting to hurt so i skipped
out on cypress hill. in fact, a lot of the punk fans left after pennywise.
i don't know why cypress hill decided to do their tour with
a group of punk bands in the first place. anyway, i figure i'd wait so
i could at least get a photo of them. i stayed for two songs, and that was that.
all in all, it was a great show. especially
this week with my midterms... it was a great way to end the stinkin' week.
um... it was supposed to be short, right? sorry.
101901
yes, a new look. i haven't done a major redesign since march, so i thought it was about damn time.
101601
the sky was beautiful this morning. i just sat here and stared out the window for a few minutes. i wished that i had a camera with me.
the sky deserved to be photographed today.
emo.
101601
did i really write that the other day? i'm out of my fucking mind.
so here's the dreaded mid-term week... i promised myself that i'd get started with my studies as soon as i got home... i've been here for more than five hours already and i haven't even started.
even after 15 years, i'll never learn.
101301
hungout with eric and maria today.
i guess i just automatically assumed that those two were trying to hook up with one another, so it took me by complete surprise when eric said to me, "yeah, she's pretty cool... she'd be good for you."
i have no idea why eric thought that... she's old. well, not really... since we're both the same age. but she's already graduated from college, and works at a pre-school as a teacher. compared to her, i feel like a... kid.
anyway, we were supposed to catch up with some other kids to go out drinking. change of plans and now i'm home.
i'm sort of glad, but i don't know... for some reason, i wanted to get really drunk tonight.
101201
went to that meeting thing with jon, eric, and johnny...
guess what? they tried to sell me amway again!
i don't know about that meeting, but just hanging out afterwards was fun.
i laughed a lot... god, it's been a while since i've laughed so hard. :) it made me
realize how much i like being around my friends and how much i fucking hate
being alone...
sometimes i just need reminders.
i have to go to lab tomorrow. i missed it again. :P
101001
i got really sick last night... and i forgot to take my house
key in the morning so jon and i went down to longs to get some medicine.
jon had the skateboard with him, so on our way there, i decided to go for
a little run... stupid me... the ground was still wet from the rain, it
was dark, i had slippers on... not to mention my splitting headache...
i run, drop the board, start to put my feet on the deck, the board slips
underneath me... WHAM! i fall on my ass...
and a car was right in front of us to see the whole thing.
100801
went to out see joy ride last night. the two characters were so stupid that i literally wanted to shout out advises at the movie screen.
i was also watching that silly "punks vs. preps" thing on mtv... the show was just plain silly. not that i don't care about what happened to brian deneke... but come on, "punks vs. preps"? give me a break. or maybe i've just been out of high school for too long...
punks, preps... assholes. everyone's got one. fuck mtv. the end.
100701
haha. see all the stupid shit i write when i'm bored?
hungout with lawrence, jon, and eric last night. at first, it sucked so much that i wished i went to see the show instead. at least then i'd be jammin' to some good music... anyway, lawrence suggested that we should go check dave and buster out. that sounded cool, except that i'm under age and so is jon. man, that sucks. not that i'm in any rush to get older... seeing that number two in front of my age makes me cringe...
anyway, that place was packed. i'm definitely gonna go check it out someday... minus the alcohol.
100601
i'm at my economics lab right now. yeah, i'm sitting at school on a saturday...
see, for my economics class we're supposed to spend at least an hour a week in the computer lab. and the thing is that we HAVE TO use a school computers for this... i'd much rather do this shit at home.
i've got about a little more than an hour left... i was too lazy to do it last week so i've got two hours this week. yeah, but i'm just trying to waste some time here by working on my journal... they've put protection on the web browsers though. i guess they didn't trust people like me who come in the lab to use the computers for web browsing. :)
oh, and i skated here! i think today was the first time i've been on a board in a long time. i don't know, today just seemed like a good day to be out skating.
my deck sucks! the shit ain't got any concave... i wanna get a new one. i just wish that i accidently broke this fucker in half or something... at least then i'll have an excuse to get a new one. but it's a perfectly fine deck... weird because i've had it for almost a whole year now. i know some skaters who buy new decks every month... i'll probably get a cheap one. maybe a blank one from ccs.com.
what else...? oh, i'm getting a digital camera sent to me. that fucking rules. photography is gonna be my new hobby.
i'm gonna try get out tonight... probably gonna hangout with eric and johnny. either that or i might check out the 9-11 benifit show at virus. i refuse to stay home tonight.
ok, laters.
